'The Real Singapore' editors Yang Kaiheng (left) and Ai Takagi (right) who were arrested by police on April 14th for posting seditious articles on their website expressed deep remorse Tuesday for violating the right of freedom of speech in Singapore.

"Many Singaporeans take for granted the glorious privilege that is freedom of speech in Singapore, and I am no different," said Kaiheng, adding that he has clearly overstepped his boundaries by expressing his personal opinions on his socio-political website The Real Singapore.

"After all, freedom of speech in no way entitles us to voice our opinion publicly without fear of censorship or punishment."

Takagi told reporters in an apologetic manner: "We were out of line, and deserved to be nipped in the bud. I'm glad the wonderful democracy of Singapore is here to keep us netizens in check."

"After all, the media is a powerful tool of expression and should under no circumstances be made use of to abuse freedom of speech in Singapore."

At press time, sources report that Kaiheng was being investigated for possibly employing sarcasm when speaking to Durian Daily reporters.
