Reports from Parliament state that the debate on the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) seats has intensified as the ruling party has once again found itself gridlocked with the opposition, this time over the choice of material for the new NCMP seats.
Worker’s Party Lee Li Lian has promised Punggol East voters that she would “not hesitate” to take up the NCMP seat availed to her unless it was nothing less than smooth velvet leather.
However, PAP’s Grace Fu has reportedly criticised the current leather seats due to its sleep-inducing comfort that has swept over Parliament like hypnosis, opting for a choice of fabric seats instead.

“It is important that MP’s stay awake in the Parliament house,” said Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, who noted that local politics may not be as exciting as the American elections since “most of us in here are on the same party but that's no valid reason to fall asleep”.
At press time, official sources report that transport minister Khaw Boon Wan is suggesting the removal of seats in Parliament so MP’s can debate at attention while standing similar to most commuters during peak hours in his trains.
