What seemed like just another dating service has hooked Singaporeans in by storm.

What Tinder essentially does is pair you up with random people in your local proximity using your smart phone’s GPS function. Judging on the appearance and personalities in the pictures they have uploaded, you swipe left if you don’t like what you see, and right if you do.

If you both swipe to the right, the two of you get “matched” and get thrown into a text conversation.

Famous blogger Xiaxue stated: “I wished Tinder came out when I was still in the dating game. I mean, don’t get me wrong. You have no idea how many pathetic losers I had to sift through in blind dates before meeting the current love of my life, Mike.”

“With Tinder, I can efficiently dismiss a loser when I see one,” she added.

Grace Ng, a local Tinder addict stated: “There is something oddly satisfying about swiping a guy that I deem a social reject to the left all from the anonymity and convenience of my bed.”

She further elaborated on how Tinder can operate as a group activity in social settings. "Nothing like a good bit of fun to swipe all these losers to the left together with my closest girlfriends after a couple of beers," Grace said.

Singaporean men using Tinder have called the app both "Not bad" and "Oh my God I'm done with this".

Many Singaporeans consider the app to have revolutionised and taken dating in the local scene to the next level. It has never been easier to weed out the losers in Singapore’s dating pool.
