Religious Wearing Black Face Paint This Year To Protest Pink Dot

Pink Dot

At least 6000 Christians and Muslims were dressed in white to protest the annual Pink Dot LGBT rights rally last year.

This year, local pastors are calling all religious followers to wear black face paint over the weekend as a form of protest to Pink Dot.

“We have the utmost respect for the LGBT community and this is our form of peaceful demonstration,” said Pastor Lawrence Sin of The Biblical Church, as he demonstrated the right dull brown colour on his palette for reporters that followers were going to don over their faces in the coming weekend.

Sin, who has actively lobbied against the legalisation of gay rights in Singapore in the past, told the press that the Church’s reasoning behind applying black face paint was so it would show their deadpan seriousness on the Church's stance on gay rights.

Other Church members told reporters that they have gotten ready the black paste that they would put on this Saturday, a simple mixture of black coloured plasticine and water.

“We wore white tops last year but I think it was not outstanding enough. This year, our charcoal black faces will get our point across for sure,” said Nur Fatimah, a 43-year-old housewife.

At press time, Pastor Sin announced the official colour code for the black paste to be #220D0D and the official hashtag “#blackface”.
