Spotify Wins Best Customer Service Award For Thanking Listeners For Listening To Ads

Digital music streaming service Spotify has won the 2015 award for “Best Customer Service” at last night’s Service Marketing Summits Awards show.

"Thanks for watching. Now enjoy thirty minutes of ad-free music," chirps the charming Caucasian female voice every time a Spotify user boots up the app and selects a song.

Local Spotify user Melvin Han told Durian Daily reporters: "We ought to be grateful for the courtesy that Spotify has extended to its non-premium users. I mean, they really aren't obligated to thank us for listening to these mandatory adverts," adding that Spotify's polite customer service goes a long way in building a relationship with their customers.

"They're kind enough to let us know who's responsible for the advert just before it's played right in our faces too," as the app informs users before the advertisement that "The next 30 minutes are ad free, thanks to our following sponsor".

Melvin who has since upgraded his Spotify account to premium status says that he misses the warm, well-mannered courtesy, adding that he had no idea what insanity possessed him to upgrade in the first place.

“Listening to my favourite tunes without these ads just isn’t the same. I really hope my premium runs out soon so I can go back to experiencing that superb customer service again.”
