The Singapore government announced plans Friday to set loose thousands of Lily Selfie Drones during this year’s National Day Parade in an effort to record millions of smiles of Singaporeans living in high-rise building areas.

In commemoration of Singapore's 50th birthday, 50 of the best Singaporean smiles will be taken and uploaded onto PM Lee's personal Facebook page.

“I’m looking forward to putting my best smile on by my 16th floor apartment to these drones come August,” local housewife Serena Chan said excitedly, adding that she definitely wanted to appear on the official website’s photo album or Facebook page.

“Going to keep all my windows open and make sure my smile is well documented for all to see.”

The drone which employs a hovering aerial technology deploys simply by throwing it up into the air, making it possible to reach the highest levels of local HDB flats to capture the happiness of local patriots come National Day.

“I’m already picturing the moment: as the fireworks blast off, I’ll be beaming up into the night sky and flashing my teeth in full view for Lily," she fantasised, adding that it would be also an opportune moment to take a selfie of the drone taking a selfie of her.

As of June, confirmed areas that will be on ‘Lily Patrol’ include Hougang, Sembawang, Woodlands, Jurong, Tampines and Pasir Ris.
