As the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) readings peaked at 102 this Monday, Singaporean citizens slowly began to realise that the deteriorating hazy conditions were seriously clouding their judgements for the upcoming General Elections 2015.

Calling it “possibly the worst imaginable timing” by political analysts, Singaporeans from all walks of life who are required to have their God damned brains about them just once in every five years find themselves unable to locate their wits – thanks to the hazy weather.

One Singaporean, Rachel Goh said, “As if it wasn’t confusing enough already with PAP and opposition rallies going on left and right, this haze has really obscured my judgement in deciding my vote.”

“When I can’t even look out my home window and tell what that skyscraper is, how can I tell who the right political party to vote for is?”

With Polling Day just two days away on Sep 11, the haze shows no signs of clearing up. Government officials have cited the haze as “politically disruptive” and “would bring a lawsuit against Mother Nature if need be.”

“This election is of the utmost importance in determining the next generation of leaders – how can Singaporean voters have the foresight to vote for the right leaders when they do not have the vision to look down the horizon?” said Minister of Environment, Mr. Jaafar.

The haze drifting into Singapore were brought about by periodic forest fires in Sumatra and carried in by pesky winds, “probably designed to disrupt the mental faculties of Singaporeans in this very important watershed election that will decide the course of history,” Mr. Jaafar continued.
