7 Obvious Signs You're Losing Your Eyesight

Sometimes we take for granted our vision and ignore the most obvious signs that we're actually going blind. Have you been exhibiting any of these symptoms?

1. You turn on your room lights at night. Don't underestimate this one. Chances are if you need the lights to see your way around the house at night, a visit to your local optician is long overdue.

2. You sometimes fail to recognise the person you're having sex with. A common vision symptom that happens to more than 40% of adults. Take a deep breath, pause the sex and ask your partner to verify his or her identity before continuing.

3. You think the superhero Daredevil is pretty cool for being blind and fighting crime. Let's face it, folks. There's nothing cool about being blind. Superman shoots red laser beams out of his eyes and Daredevil uses a walking stick in the daytime. Get your eyesight checked ASAP.

4. You can tell when your friends are using cologne or perfume. You know what they say about the visually impaired. They make up for the visual impairment with a keen sense of smell. Chances are you're slowly developing a dependency on your nasal faculties.

5. You lie down on your bed every night for at least 6 hours with your eyes closed. You're probably doing this because you feel a need to rest your eyes. Better watch out for this one.

6. You realise your significant other is no longer as attractive as when you first met them. Another obvious sign your eyesight is deteriorating. Relax, your boyfriend is still as handsome and your girlfriend is just as sexy as before. Seriously consider spectacles before you convince yourself you're dating Shrek.

7. You use a mirror in your bathroom instead of a basin of water for your reflection. Before mirrors came along, our ancestors made do with a simple tub of water. If you find yourself preferring a mirror, a loss of vision has most likely happened.
