Sympathising with Singaporean's obsessive need to complain about something in current affairs, the Indonesian government has released an official statement forgiving Singaporeans of their relentless complaining and unruly behaviour in reaction to the haze.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said, "We realise that the quinquennial General Elections were just over and Singaporeans were no longer interested in complaining about that particular subject."
"Therefore, it's only natural they would soon be looking to complain about something else, and if it happens to be the haze, then so be it," said Widodo, adding that Singaporeans deserved something fresh to grumble about.
Although Singaporeans were quick to criticise Indonesia for the Sumatra fires, the Indonesian President has assured Singaporeans that it was "all good".
"Singaporeans, we forgive you.”
Soh Jing Xuan, a 37-year-old hedge funds manager, said that the general sentiment of Singaporeans now were regretful and in embarrassment of their too recent disruptive behaviour.
"Even though we blamed Indonesia so harshly for the haze, they still found it in them to forgive us – Singaporeans ought to be ashamed of themselves."
Widodo’s words and empathy proves that Indonesia is truly concerned with maintaining friendly relations with the nation-state of Singapore.
"Indonesia couldn’t be more compassionate and tolerant," said Soh. "Despite Singaporean’s unforgiving and brash criticism of the Indonesian government’s inability to control the forest fires, Joko Widodo still found room in his big heart for Singaporeans.”
“We should consider ourselves very fortunate for having such understanding and forgiving neighbours," she continued.
