By far one of the most effective and practical ways to avoid the haze, the Singaporean government is not only urging citizens to reduce outdoor activity, but also to stay in their kitchen cabinets to avoid the haze.
“We are closely monitoring the PSI levels but Singaporeans need to find shelter in their kitchen cupboards as soon as they can and as much as possible,” said Deputy Director Choi Cheng San of the National Environment Agency (NEA), adding that the ideal spot would be right between that brand new juicer you got last New Year and that rusty frying pan that everyone in the family is too lazy to clear out.
Of late, Singaporeans have been seeking new measures to combat the worsening haze such as acquiring gas masks from eBay or simply lighting scented candles around the household to help themselves forget of the unpleasant smog just outside their homes.
With the PSI levels continually rising and showing no sign of letting up, citizens are now eager to begin residing right next to their extra plates and crockery.
Choi also added that the confines of a kitchen cabinet was a great spot to “enjoy a nice cup of tea and take your mind off the worrying PSI readings.”
27-year-old Singaporean, David Tan said: “The haze was giving me problems sleeping but now inside my cupboard, I sleep like a baby.”
